Chicago Pinoy Music Scene

I'm just going to critique some of the vocalists here that I've seen live or on video...here we go...in no particular order of Awesomeness...

Thomas (Lucid Blur)- This dude has such a great presence on stage. He really knows how to work a crowd. He's frickin' Hilarious! Great manly vocal tone and with an awesome sense of pop rock melody. he plays guitar and bass real well too. Super cool guy. Always a crowd favorite.

Jdawg (Madrhymes)- This dude has such a cool metal voice. He fits so well in Madrhymes. Aggressive and melodic when needed. He plays real good bass and can hang with Quito and Sidney on them crazy chord progressions that Madrhymes has been recognized for. Our resident Tom Arraya! Metal fo lyf!

Monyong (Kolorum)- Great melodic singer with an awesome ear for figuring out songs on that acoustic guitar of his. He was a finalist in one of those talent shows in the Philippines so I guess that tells you he's not just some karaoke joe that got bored and decided to sing. Great vocal power as well.

Je (Bagwis)- She has such a great presence onstage with an awesome singing style that fits Bagwis so well. She sings with feeling and has a great ear for writing melodies for her band. Her tone is so smooth that you can put it on top of any dessert that you like.lol!...Just a great voice

Justin (SO3 and JGM)- This dude can sing. I've gone karaoke-ing with this dude multiple times and he can pretty much tackle any style of music that machine can throw at him. Awesome voice, great range, and he can also kick ass live with SO3. Plus he likes Tapsilog! lol. A good friend.

Erick (The Bending Spoon)- This guy has a great sense of melody. He's got great stage presence. He's can be aggressive, melodic, and anything else in between. Awesome guy and a true Rocker.

Bing (Aci9)- Awesome voice, raw and youthful talent. Awesome guitar chops as well. Melodic, bluesy, and expressive in his songs with his band. Great down-to-earth guy.

Amon (Indiagos)- He's a cool guy with great pop rock sense. Great singing and presence. His vocals is one of the driving forces that is Indiagos. He can play that guitar real well too!

Joel (Downcast)- Cool Hard Rock/Metal/Alternative voice. Powerful and melodic. He can rock it out with the best of them. Very cool guy.

TinTin (Indiagos)- One of the rockin' girls on CPMS. Has a unique voice kinda has the bjork and Tori Amos quality at times. Very melodic and willing to sing anything. Cool gal...

Kelle (Lost Poetics)- Great range. great melodies. Works great with virg on their LP songs. Very nice dude with a real cool pop/rock/alternative voice. He plays guitar and piano real good too. Cant wait to get my hands on that new recording!

Paul (Hara)- Very good vocalist. I've seen Hara live once and I'll have to say that he's very energetic and can play that guitar real well. His voice is raw and rockin'. Good sense of melody. This dude can rock with the best.

David Wycoco- I saw this guy at Maya Essence. Awesome Skillz! Melodic and has a great alternative/rock voice. I Like his guitar playing with his effects. Great one-man-band...

OMG! I can't wait for that CPMS CD!!! That is going to Kick ass!!!

Its funny man... sometimes I see Jdawg up there on stage and its still hard for me to believe he's really doing the vocals... J is such a cool cat! Real mellow when you talk to him off stage... but once he's up there... ah, shet.... he growls like a creature from a scfi horror film! Love it!

lol! the dude is so cool and quiet...then he gets on stage and let's out that primal, gutteral, kick-yo-face voice...what a total kick in the ass!!

You forgot to review yourself, Arnel Pineda (According to Ate Belle)!!! hahaha

May I just add...

DMac (Aftrsix) - Awesome range and great tone. He can handle anything from those low baritonish rock melodies to growling like Reg Rubio of Greyhoundz and Ian Tayao of Queso. Fits well with the Nu-Metal/Alternative-Metal style of Aftrsix.

DK (SO3 & Dantekris) - Great ear for melodies and attention to detail. He's like a buffet of harmonies. He just keeps coming up with new melodies. I can work with this guy for hours.

Mark V (JGM) - Need I say more? Classically trained in metal!!!

Dave (Formerly of One Day Old and Abakus) - The ideal frontman. Energy to the max. Melodies to screeching/howling vocals. This guy is made of awesome.

Vince (SO3) and Gerald (JGM) - They sing really well. I wish they'd sing more often.
