What NOT to do with your perfectly working guitar!!!
It's rarely a good thing when I have an idea that involves the letters DIY, so beware, this is not gonna be pretty... yet!
BEFORE
After a heat gun got involved in the picture... YES, I did burn it a little...
Pickup cavity prior to some additional routing
After enlarging the pickup cavities to fit the EMG 707s
Battery caddy routing
This is where I'm at so far.
I've ordered some Black ferrules (top and bottom), new bridge (hopefuly it fits if not I'm just gonna powder coat the one it came with). New tuners are also on route.
As for finishing, I plan to use some Marine Tex to repair some wood damage and also to fill a portion of the pickup cavity so that the EMGs fit snugly in there. I'll apply some grain filler on it this weeked and after it cures, I'll apply some primer and sand it some more.
Now I'm just not sure what to paint it... I originally thought I was gonna keep it simple and paint it White but I already have a White guitar so I think it's gonna be between Gold (Ala Gibson), Pink or Orange. What do you guys think??? :)
