What is the ultimate guitar for you?

Hi! My name is Allen from th 8PM band. Im trying to reach to all the guitarist in CPMS about the favorite gear that they use. I was once an avid fan of fender. Never uses any other guitar in a gig but my strat. Well, during winter of 2009 the cold just mess up the neck of my strat and it does not feel right anymore even after I took it to a guitar tech. So i decided to buy a new one. Some sales clerk at GUITAR CENTER handed me a PRS SE with trem to try it. And man, it feels twice as better than a new fender strat. I bought it and brought it to a gig and pretty much it gets the job done regardless if your playing Rock/Alternative to Jazz and even Disco/Techno. After 3 months I got the SE Custom 24 and just as expected it's amazing. By the way, PRS SE are Korean made guitars under the license of Paul Reed Smith. It gives me the sound of the guitar riffs of LinkinPark style. Recently, I got a hold of a U.S. made PRS and it's just flawless, beautiful, makes you feel guilty to play it. It's playability is 100% smooth. However, this guitar causes like 3x the price of a Korean made PRS. Korean made PRS ranges from $500-$700. The U.S. made, I got mine for about $1800 and the other 1 for $1900 but it's all worth it, I got 2 U.S. PRS CE 24. It's the only bolt-on PRS guitar without the bird inlays. They look good on stage with or without lightings. What's the ultimate guitar for you?

Did you catch PRS at Music Gallery last week? He was supposedly out there doing a demo or a masterclass. Don't remember exactly.

I didnt know he was here but I would have taken a day off just to catch him. Is is true that Jackson guitars is now under the license of Gibson?

It's actually Fender. Fender bought them out late 2002 and brought back the most influential masterbuilders of the 80s & 90s back. People say the support per-fender was a bit more personalized and not too corporate-influence.

This would actually be the ultimate guitar for me. I call it the Rhoads Angel! I have had this idea for quite some time which is a combination of a couple Jackson designs, the Death Angel and my fave Randy Rhoads. One of the guys on JCF mocked it in photochop for me just to see what it would look like... I'd like to get this in 7x, Satin Black with a reversed headstock, stationary bridge, EMG 707s with non-inlaid Ebony finger board.

I have a current CS order and I'm trying to see if they can build me the first Rhoads Angel ever.

For me the word Ultimate guitar has two meanings. lol. The ultimate guitar that I can't afford but if given the money I would grab one in a heartbeat and the Ultimate guitar that works best with my playing style.

First the Ultimate guitar that I can't stop but drool every time I see one is definitely a Black Vintage 1970 Fender Strat. I got a chance to play two of them at a local vintage shop and left my tear marks on the fretboard. lol!

The Ultimate guitar for my playing style is definitely the Fender Highway One Series Strats. Well maybe not as a stock but I must say the guitar plays well even as stock.
Snap in a wide spaced Callaham bridge and block, change the tuners and put Fralin Blues Special pick ups in and I'd be flying on my little wings. . . . . . . . . . fly on!

The best thing about the Highway One Series is that they are reasonably priced for an American made guitar. You'd never feel guilty playing one (even after accidentally throwing it in the air while practicing you Saosin flip) . And plus, it's hard to find affordable nitro cellulose painted guitars this days.

You got a good point there. What do you think of this new road worns guitars by fender? It's mexican made but it has the looks of a beaten-up classic American made strat.

Didn't like it. I'd rather beat up my own guitar than pay 1k for a beaten-up road worn fender.

Bigsby is the bomb dude. It will make your guitar a head turner all the time.

regarding your love for PRS though, i could relate.. i use a PRS McCarty and love its feel, and its playability... but after i bought my strat, which costs about 1/3 of the price of the PRS, i fell in love with the tone... it sounds way better.. thats how i realized that my PRS pickups sound kinda weak so i placed Seymour duncans on the bridge and now it sounds "hotter" great for harder rock and metal stuff... so i love them both, my PRS for the feel and strat for the tone..
